Private postcards i.e. commissioned from local photographers and printers. 1) Sepia photo of a party of 10 people outside Vogrie Stables, Borthwick, Midlothian, c. 1900. Addressed, with a note, but not posted. 2) Photo of a family - probably a grandmother with two sons, or daughters, the spouse of each, and three children (and one dog). Taken in a suburban garden. The message is to a relative or mutual friend who needs no explanation as to who is who.
