Russia
5 postcards, 1930-1943
Russia: one cover and four postcards from pre-war and wartime Russia. The best item is the cover representing the Zeppelin Post flight from Moscow to Friedrichshaven in 10 Sept 1930, with the special commemorative stamp (SG 575), cachet and stamp. This is one of only 9000 letters priced at over £200 each. There are no obvious marks of forgery, and its condition is very good, though the recipient’s surname has been carefully erased (It was in Stolow, as shown on a postcard sent on the same flight, priced at £256.20). Of the postcards, two are propaganda cards with suitably military drawings (one unused; one registered), and the others have only printed stamps and Soviets wreathes, with hammers and sickles. One of these last cards is unusual, and probably a fabrication. It appears to have been re-used and stamped under German occupation but the both the cancel and cachet are doubtful.
