708 postcards, 1933-1935

Postcards to Robert Sinclair Wilson of Dumfries, 1930-1935. 708 postcards from some 44 countries around the world sent to Mr R.S. Wilson of Dumfries between 1930 and 1935. They represent the hobby of collectors sharing postcards of their country, usually adding notes and forwarding addresses in cachets. About 215 postcards lack stamps or addresses and were evidently posted in envelopes. All the postcards are in a very good state of condition, having been hardly handled and well kept. The range of counties is very wide and the collection can be seen as a snapshot view of what the world looked like in the 1920s and 1930s or least of how people wanted to portray their counties.
